As someone dedicated to helping my clients plan for the future, I want to highlight an important consideration for those approaching retirement: Original Medicare isn’t designed to cover every health expense you might face in 2027. In fact, many everyday needs are left out. For example, long-term custodial care—like assisted living or extended nursing care—remains a significant gap, with only limited skilled nursing or certain home health services covered. Routine dental, vision (including glasses and contacts), and hearing aids are also typically excluded, except in specific medical cases. Coverage for care received abroad, elective cosmetic procedures, over-the-counter items, and even some routine foot care or treatment-related convenience costs is very limited as well. That’s why it’s so important to review supplemental or alternative plan options well ahead of retirement, and to budget separately for expenses such as long-term care, dental, vision, hearing, and those often-overlooked incidentals. My commitment has always been to help clients navigate these complexities and find tailored insurance solutions that bring peace of mind.
